During the 3rd-6th of March the University of Alicante welcomed the participants from 5 Laos HEIs and Ministry of Education and Sport for the project Kick off meeting and study visit. The objectives of the meeting were to present the Erasmus + CBHE Programme expectations, give a thorough view of the OPEN project, including:  the work packages, deliverables and results and get to know the UA internationalisation strategy.

OPEN project promotes the internationalization of higher education in Laos through actions aimed at institutional strengthening and training, with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of teaching and research.

This meeting was organised jointly with 2 other CBHE projects: ACCESS, coordinated by UA, aiming to improve accessibility and the inclusion of students with special needs through modern training and networking practices. in Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Cuba and MYSUN coordinated by Universiti Putra Malaysia focusing on promoting Malaysian university campuses as "living laboratories" to improve sustainability and energy efficiency in the country.

These three-year projects are co-financed by Erasmus + KA2 programme and are intended to promote cooperation for innovation and the exchange of good practices in the area of Higher Education.

Holding this joint meeting in Alicante allowed the participants an opportunity to share experiences and good practices with representatives of visiting institutions. Likewise, the representatives of the different consortiums had a chance to get aware of the important references in Alicante's culture and geography during their stay.
